“Gretchen, Everything I love is everything you are” were the beautiful words engraved on a strategically placed Christmas ornament on Jason’s parent’s tree when the couple returned home for the holidays. The reverse -“Will you marry me?”. Two years and 6 months later, the couple were finally wed!
Gretchen and Jason met on a blind date set up by mutual friends and what started out as your average “set up” scenario slowly blossomed into a relationship straight out of a story book. Hey, sometimes your friends really do know what’s best! Not very often does a couple who are so different balance each other so perfectly and with two extremely different personalities (and wine tastes), Gretchen calls her best friend the “yin” to her “crazy”.
One year prior to their wedding, we spent the day taking Gretchen and Jason’s engagement pictures at and around her parent’s house in Branford, CT. Gretchen and Jason LOVE wine (Gretch a white lover and Jason a red), so a winery/picnic themed photo-shoot was the perfect choice for the day. The couple even brought a pizza in which they cleverly decorated for their Save the Dates!
On the day of the wedding, the weather couldn’t have been more perfect! Gretchen got ready at her parent’s house where we grabbed some really fun hair shots then got creative with a sign found over her parent’s bed spelling out the word “DREAM”. The couple had their ceremony and reception at one of our all-time favorite wedding venues in all of Connecticut, Great River Golf Club. With so many diverse locations on site, the lovely architecture and friendly staff, Great River is always a hit! The couple gave us a lot of time to have a very intimate “First Look” session and you can see in the pictures how very much in love these two really are.
On the day, the groom’s ring was not available for photographs so Kiva got to visit a week later and take more shot of their wedding bands!
